Formerly, Troy "Bailey" by marriage, Dr. Troy and her then husband were in the midst of considering divorce, she was also in grad school.  Additionally, Dr. Troy Byer’s medical history with stress, anxiety and panic attacks deeply intertwined with her psychological journey, shaped by early exposure to trauma, prolonged periods of emotional distress, and unresolved episodes of anxiety and hypervigilance stemming from childhood adversity. Having endured significant psychological challenges—including foster care instability, institutional placements, and repeated abandonment—Dr. Troy developed complex post-traumatic stress responses that later manifested in persistent autonomic dysregulation and somatic symptoms. These psychological origins served as the impetus for a medical trajectory marked by chronic anxiety, sleep disturbances, and stress-related physiological imbalances, including elevated cortisol levels and hypertension. To regulate her nervous system and restore functional balance, Dr. Troy adopted medically recommended non-pharmaceutical interventions, including weighted blankets for nighttime sensory grounding and a "weighted" trained psychiatric service dog named Love for daytime therapeutic support via Deep Pressure Stimulation (DPS). Her medical reliance on these tools is not only supported by clinical evidence but is deeply rooted in a psychological history that validates their necessity as daily therapeutic modalities essential for safe, medication free, stable, and autonomous living.

DR. TROY'S ORGANIC REMEDIES

Throughout the day, Love performs a specific psychiatric service task known as Deep Pressure Therapy (DPT) by gently placing her body across my feet. This grounding pressure triggers my parasympathetic nervous system, the part of the brain responsible for calming the body. Scientifically, this pressure:

  • Reduces cortisol (the body’s primary stress hormone)

  • Increases serotonin and dopamine to balance mood

  • Stimulates the release of oxytocin, which promotes a sense of connection and safety

  • Slows down breathing and heart rate during moments of panic, dissociation, or anxiety

This is not affection—it is "organically" prescribed emotional stabilization.
